The Great Eggies Experiment

Most of the time, I just review an item by myself, but when the Eggies™ System arrived, I had a bright idea. I received a dozen Eggies™, so I was able to distribute them to twelve willing participants who would try them in their own homes and report back to me about the experience. Somehow I even got our lawman to take one, though I think it had more to do with the fact that his wife loves deviled eggs. He had a TON of questions, though, as, presumably, lawyers do.
We had a few eggs-perimenters – myself, A&S, MC, AL, and KW. I was so close to getting Theo in the Eggies™ Review mix, but he DOESN’T OWN A POT. Seriously, that’s how he turned down my offer to be in our crack team of Eggies™ experts. Unfortunately, I put too much faith in my team to actually review the product. Hmm, I wonder if there are people out there who would be willing to review products with me in exchange for samples. I can’t do this all on my own, people!
MC and her fiancé were the first to respond. MC’s fiancé took copious photos documenting the entire process, many more than I would, and for that, I am truly grateful. They made two – one perfectly normal, and one that had a little more, ahem, steam power (it popped open). She said she’d shaken it up, too, so when it was cooked completely, it was more like a scrambled egg with spices inside.
Take a peek at MC’s Eggies Test:

MC's Eggies™ from Start to Finish
MC’s Report: Eggs were delicious. Watch out for steam pops.
My Eggies: I was having a beach weekend with my boyfriend G and his parents, so I decided to give them a chance to see me at work, reviewing the Eggies™. G’s dad was fascinated by the Eggies™, so he was my first tester. The eggs went in as they were supposed to, and we waited the allotted time and presto! They came out looking pretty darn tasty. A little bit of the egg leaked out of the side, but nothing too major. Here are some pics of my first Eggies™ (so cute):
G’s dad ate his and loved it, so I was tasked to boil two more for G and his mom. Unfortunately, I messed up the seal and had the steam pop that MC warned me about. I thought perhaps the Eggies™ were still too warm from the earlier boil, so I ran the Eggie under some cold water and loaded it up again. This time I had no steam issues, so perhaps you should let your Eggies™ rest between uses (Note: your Eggies™ sets will contain more than the two that I had).
Jess’ Report: Delicious Eggies™ and yeah, that steam pop thing MC talked about is REAL.
AL boiled Eggies™ for her and her boyfriend, and she also indicated that the steam popping the Eggies™ open is something to look out for.
AL’s Report: Tasty eggs, watch out for steam.
I guess the important thing to take away from this review is to use the Eggies™ as directed and make sure that you have them sealed correctly and securely. If not, your egg may go from hard-boiled to, well, poached. Don’t get me wrong – poaching is not a bad way to cook an egg, sure, but, let’s face it, it’s not the hard-boiled egg you really want.
It’s another BOGO offer (that’s buy one get one). You buy one set of Eggies, and you get the second set FREE (plus processing and handling). One Eggies™ set contains six Eggies™, so two sets gives you a full dozen. I wonder if you could boil a whole carton of eggs in one big pot?
Always selling sincerely,
Jess

I was so glad to read your review, I have been wondering how these would do.
Thank you for your kind comment, Debra! I am so glad you found my review.
Thank you and your friends for your reviews. Eggies sound like fun. If you need people to help with reviews, you can count me in! P.S. poached on purpose could be another selling point!
Arlene, poached on purpose is brilliant! Thank you so much for commenting!
Hi, I was more interested in making boiled eggs using the cartons of egg whites. Then they could be sliced for use in salads, make egg salad, etc. I would love to hear how eggies work for this.
You know, I would be interested in knowing that, too. Until recently, I would ONLY buy cartons of egg whites for cooking/scrambling, but I didn’t have any on hand when I reviewed them. I’ll put that on my list to try out. Thanks for the comment and for stopping by!
Thanks for the review and pics I bought one and cant wait to try it!
That’s awesome, Angela! Thanks for the comment!
I was wondering if the Eggies have any BPA in them. Are there any markings on either them or the package with regards to this?
Appreciate any information about this.
I don’t have a website; if you would, please reply to my email address.
Thanks very much for your time.

That’s a great question, Mary. We review and sell the products, but for these types of questions, you’ll have to contact the manufacturer themselves.

Also, I have now added the customer service information for each product I’ve reviewed to the review itself so everyone can find it easily when reading. I hope this helps!
Hi Jess, thanks for the information but the Customer Service number isn’t the manufacturer it’s just basically an answering service for multiple companies and they referred me to the website for Eggies which doesn’t have ‘product information’ listed.
Now I’ve sent an email to an Environmental Working Group and hope that they have an answer.
It seems to me that there should be something on the bottom of the Eggie itself such as that little triangle with a number in it.
Appreciate your time Jess, and thanks for the information provided.

Thank you for reviewing!! This is the first ‘real’ review I’ve been able to read – and your 1 review included a decent sampling! Thanks so much!
You’re very welcome, Heather, and thank YOU for commenting! I am glad you enjoyed my review.
I love gadgets so being a tester would be a dream come true for me!
I would love to be a tester for the eggies.
Hi Jess. If you need more reviewers I would be happy to help out. Just let me know how I can help. Love your site!!
I would like to be a tester also. Barb
I have bad hands and thought eggies would be a good thing, but, seriously, now, oil before each use? And then the things always open up during boiling, threw them away the second time i went to use them.
no website but I would love to test products and send you test results..
I really enjoyed reading all the comments. I always watch wbt on sat.am for the product testing so u know I was crazy about this.
I purchase these and have used them several times. I am very happy with the results and don’t have a mess afterwards. I like to make hard boiled eggs and they are exactly the right texture by using the chart that came with it.
I bought 2 sets!! they both leak!! The time & trouble is not worth it!! I tell people not to buy!
love mine theya re super slick
I would also love to be a tester.hope you can use this grandmother of 7.
i also use them were easy to set up and cook but a mess to clean up afterwards i had a hard time getting the eggs out of the product without tearin them up and had to soak them for 24 hours before i could get all the egg out and i used oil like it says to and followed the directions exactally i used them once and didnt use them again
I had a hard time with them. They leaked and was hard for me to get out without messing them up. It was a mess to clean up afterwards. used them once and didn’t use them again.
I have this product. I am not satisfied with the result. I found that they come open while boiling letting water in,the eggs tend to stick in the pods, and they are not easy to load with the eggs,I tend to either miss the pod all together or the pod falls over while trying to add the uncooked egg, therefor making a mess.I bought this product with the intention of using the cooked eggs to make deviled eggs but the turn out only half looking eggs making them nearly impossible to devil.I was utterly disappointed.
I read your reviews and know people who hav this product. The people that I know are not to thrilled with it.
i have these and not a good product….to hard to load, then there is no way to get the egg out of them with out intensive labor.I wouldn’t recommend these
I have these and not a good product..I total agree with Carol Pickering.
I have fresh eggs from my own chickens everyday. You absolutely cannot boil and get the shells off fresh eggs without losing 90-100% of the white part of the egg. I would have to leave the eggs for 3-5 days to boil the usual way (says a lot for store-bought eggs). I love the Eggies and use them all the time. If you follow the directions that come with them, they’re much easier and less messy than cracking and peeling egg shells. I’ve recommended them to everyone I know.
I also bought these, and they are not what they are cracked up to be. They leak when cooking, and when you remove the seal to make sure they come clean have fun getting the seal back in place
