Getting Motivated to Exercise

One of the hardest things to do is to get motivated to exercise. It is always so much easier to stay on the couch and enjoy the latest round of shows on the television. Yet you can get motivated to exercise and be glad you did.

Get a Partner

Having someone hold you accountable is one of the biggest factors in getting your motivated to exercise. I can say that from

personal experience. Doing it on your own opens the door for excuses and never leaving the couch. When you have that partner, they make you feel guilty. They push you. They don’t take your flimsy excuses. They exercise with you. They give you something to look forward to.

Have a partner that is not prone to more excuses than you are. Choose someone who will be honest with you and whom you trust. This is the person you might have to talk bluntly to you. You have to care enough to accept it even if you don’t like it.

Make it Fun

You can’t get motivated to do anything if it is not fun. Exercise has to be fun to be motivated to do it. If you don’t like aerobic exercise, then you won’t be motivated to do it. But if you like to take walks down a country lane, you can be motivated to it. Enjoy swimming? Then make sure you including swimming in your exercise routine.

To get motivated to exercise, find something fun to do. You can choose bowling, swimming, walking, rock climbing, gardening, or anything else that requires you to move about. Fun gets you excited. Walk your talk. Play with your children in the park. Go metal detecting. Take up rock hounding. There is more to exercise than using the gym.

Have to Really Want It

If you don’t want to lose weight or get in better shape, you will struggle to get motivated to exercise. You have to really want it. You don’t necessarily have to want the exercise, but you have to want the results. If you truly want to lose that extra fifty pounds, you’ll get motivated. It could be a reunion or a doctor’s appointment.

Why are you wanting to exercise? Answer that truthfully. Take you answer and make it part of your motivation. Hang a dress of a smaller size up and gaze at it daily for motivation. Put up a picture of your family or a vacation spot. Whatever reason you want to lose weight needs to be in your face all the time.

If you really want to get motivated to exercise, you have to want the results, have a reliable partner, and do something fun. That’s all it takes. You don’t have to spend a fortune at a gym. You don’t to buy fancy equipment or workout clothes. All you need is a little creativity and desire inside of you.

How do you start? Turn off the television and call a friend.
