5 Ways to Get Shiny Hair

Finding your hair dull? Wanting more shiny hair? You might think you need fancy, expensive conditioners. You really don’t. There are five things in your kitchen right now that you can use to get shiny hair: mayonnaise, vinegar, lemon juice, olive oil, and eggs.

Mayonnaise

shiny healthy hairYes, mayonnaise is great for shiny hair. That is, if you use it right. There are eggs in mayonnaise which, as you’ll see in a bit, is great for eggs.

Wash your hair. Some prefer to dry it completely before applying the mayonnaise. Others apply it wet. Experiment with it. Take one-eighth to one-fourth of a cup of mayonnaise for short to medium hair. Use up to a half of a cup for longer hair. You can adjust each time you use it based on the thickness of your hair. Massage the mayonnaise into your hair focusing on the ends. Put on a shower cap. Leave in hair at least one hour. The thicker your hair is, the longer you might want to leave it in. Again, experiment. Wash out with shampoo. Do this no more than once a week.

Vinegar

This is one of the most versatile things in your kitchen. Vinegar is the way to go. It helps clean your kitchen/bathroom, neutralize smells, and give you shiny hair.

Wash your hair thoroughly. Instead of using conditioner, rinse with vinegar. Do not wash out! Do this for a few days in a row and then once a week to keep a healthy shine. Yes, there might be a slight vinegary smell. It’s not bad. It’s the smell of clean and fresh hair.

Lemon Juice

Much like vinegar, lemon juice has so many uses around the house. Lemon naturally gives a healthy shine to everything and is great for cleaning.

Use lemon juice as you would with vinegar. Wash hair and rinse with lemon juice. Do not wash out. Keep in mind that some people report that lemon juice lightens their hair.

Olive Oil

Wash your hair and dry it until it is just damp. Massage olive oil in your hair until it covers all of it. Put a shower cap on and sleep with it all night. Wash out. Do not do this more than once a week or your hair could become oily.

Eggs

We don’t normally think of eggs as something we want on our hair. But they are good for you though it might be a little messy.

Mix up eggs as though you are going to make scrambled eggs. Massage through your hair. You might want to do this over a large bowl and hang your head over it so you can pour it over your hair and rub it in without making too much of a mess.

BONUS WAY

Okay, I told you I’d tell you 5 ways to get shiny hair. Well, I’m in a generous mood and I’ll tell you of another one my father-in-law swears about. Don’t wash your hair. I’m not kidding.

When you wash your hair, you are cleaning it and stripping it of the natural oils that are produced to protect your hair and make it shiny. Those oils are usually reproduced but everyone varies on how fast. Don’t wash your hair every day. Wash it every other day. Maybe wash it only once a week. Everyone is different so experiment and see what works best for you.
